Nexus6 Software launches iPhone Application, Vocabulator.
'Wow, this is like having Target
Word in your pocket, and it only costs the same as one newspaper!'
- Vocabulator enthusiast
Nexus6 Software P/L today announced the release of its iPhone Application, Vocabulator.
While groans of, 'Not another word puzzle app!' were immediately heard around the room, they lasted only until users tapped the new game button and got their first taste of this unique iPhone and iPod Touch word game.
Vocabulator is not only a must-have for Target Word addicts across the globe, it's the ideal solution for parents wanting to provide their kids with technology based entertainment that's both fun and educational.
As Paul Rodger, head of development at Nexus6 explains, Vocabulator quickly became a passion project for the small software development company based in Melbourne, Australia.
'We worked tirelessly to ensure that we could offer nearly every 6 - 11 letter word in the dictionary, but still have fast load times and a relatively small database. This proved even more of a challenge when we realised that for a really enjoyable experience, games shouldn't repeat the same base words and the number of sub-words is manageable; not too many or too few.'
Such efforts were worth it though. According to 16 year old Rachel Holland, when she took the development version of the app along on her recent school camp, her friends were so engrossed that she couldn't get her iPhone off them. 'In the end we had to settle on playing the game as a team just to make sure everyone felt like they were getting a go.'
Nexus6 are hopeful that they will enjoy enough sales revenue to warrant development of some new features already slated for the Version 2 upgrade.
'When you see 3 or more people huddled around the phone yelling words at one another, it's obvious that Vocabulator needs phone-to-phone multi-play', says Rodger. 'We really wanted to get that into Version 1, but with the holidays fast approaching, we decided that releasing such a great holiday past-time was more important.'
