Kirk Holland
Roles: Business Analysis/Project Management/Client Liaison
After completing his Bachelor of Science (Maths and Computer Science) degree and collecting several awards for excellence along the way, Kirk began his career in the web development industry. Since 2000, he has progressed through various development roles, gaining hands-on experience in every aspect of the application development process.
At Nexus6 Kirk took on the role of Business Development and General Operations Manager and now oversees and facilitates the team's interaction with clients. By applying his flair for abstract thought to business analysis, he has developed a reputation for helping companies design effective, tailor-made solutions for their varied requirements.
Paul Rodger
Roles: Technology Lead/Senior Analyst/Financial Management
Paul is a proud technology generalist who has been programming computers since 1985. Paul fell in love with web-based technology while immersed in his Computer Science degree which he completed in in 1996 (although he also holds a graduate diploma in Applied Finance & Investment).
Paul has a keen interest in web architecture, data, scaling and high-availability solutions. From writing compilers in C to web frameworks in Python, Paul loves a technical challenge. Paul is a fan of Linux, ever since the 1.2.13 kernel came out in 1995. You can also see Paul's CV on LinkedIn.
Gary Chan
Roles: Senior Developer/Release Management/Quality Control
After completing his Bachelor of Business (Information Systems) degree in 2000, Gary has worked his way through quality assurance roles to his current position as a senior developer.
In addition to his extensive experience with Oracle and Perl, Gary is responsible for distributing and co-ordinating the activities of the team, version control, release management and quality control.
Henry Chau
Roles: Senior Analyst/Developer
Henry holds degrees in Bachelor of Science (Maths/Computer Science) and Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Computer Engineering) with Honours. In over 15 years in the industry, he has worked on various projects, ranging from MySQL/PostgreSQL data migration to genetic algorithms that model petrol prices in competitive markets using C/C++.
Henry is also proficient in such development platforms as Perl (mod_perl), Java, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Linux, Solaris, HP-UX and Microsoft Windows. Henry is an expert at Oracle SQL performance tuning.
Henry is a learning-space integration guru, especially with international standards such as AICC, SCORM and IMS QTI. Henry is quite comfortable working with companies such as Skillsoft, NETg, KnowledgeNet, Smartforce and Accenture to deliver solutions.
Filip Cichy
Role: Senior Developer
During his 18 years in the software development industry, Filip has worked with a wide variety of technologies. His projects have spanned a broad range of industries including Financial Services, eLearning, Gaming, Commonwealth Government and Heavy Industry. He has extensive knowledge of Web based application development using various platforms: Perl, Javascript, .NET and LAMP.
Filip has developed desktop applications for the Microsoft platform and personal devices such as the iPhone and Palm using C#, Objective-C, C++, Delphi and Flash. Primarily focusing on front end user interface design, he is comfortable using new technologies and applying new methodologies to existing systems.
Cody Crocker
Role: Senior Developer
Cody was involved in the original implementation of the Southrock LMS as development and support specialist. After completing a computer science/instrumentation degree at Swinburne University, he researched online learning technology as part of his post graduate studies, developing an online learning system that was used across the campus.
Cody works with the Nexus6 team providing solutions in python, PHP, javascript and Perl. His other passions include motorsport, where he has a decorated history winning both the Australian and Asia Pacific rally championships numerous times.
Brett Jackson
Role: Senior Developer
After completing his Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) degree, Brett worked for Adacel Technologies Inc, where he built a repository of knowledge relating to on-line courseware development. Using Javascript, HTML, CSS and knowledge of the AICC & SCORM CBT standards, Brett developed an array of simulation-based training for clients including Vodafone and CGU, as well as the "big 4" Australian banks and other international corporations.
Brett went on to develop the Publisher component of Talent2's LMS, a tool that simplifies content development for people without extensive HTML skills and enables them to deliver well-presented on-line training in a few easy steps. Publisher utilises dynamic HTML and an open source WYSIWYG editor to generate on-line courseware. Brett continues to expand his knowledge of technologies used in web application development, Photoshop for interface design, development tools and standards like jQuery, JSON, Ajax, and CSS, as well as Apple iPhone development.
Christos Kakris
Role: Senior Developer
Christos has worked in the IT industry for over twenty-four years. During that time he has programmed a range of systems from mini-computers with punch-card readers, through to mission-critical Cray supercomputers running Unicos and most recently mobile platforms like the iPhone. Christos has been a systems administrator, project manager and team leader. He is an expert in Java, Perl, PHP and a leading proponent of test-driven development.
Toby McLaughlin
Role: Systems Engineer
Toby specialises in networked systems infrastructure and back-end technologies. He combines a fundamental understanding of network technologies with a wide experience in server software. He is a Linux enthusiast first and foremost, but loves playing with all kinds of technologies to make them work together.
Toby has followed the changing world of networked systems for the last decade, working in the machine rooms and data-centres of corporate, academic and government clients. A specialist in automation, Toby likes to build systems that 'just keep going'. Working as much with people as with computers, Toby helps our clients make computers behave.
Although he loves computers, Toby wishes they were better at working the way people want. Toby is a passionate believer in automating the repetitive tasks that bedevil computer based work-flows. Using modern scripting languages, Toby loves to hunt down the dull, inefficient and repetitive bits that people shouldn't have to worry about.
Kristian Puccio
Role: Developer
After studying Computer Science at Curtin University, Kristian has worked on various projects ranging from image manipulation software to e-Commerce solutions. Kristian is a voracious learner who does not shy away from a challenge, especially when it broadens his already large skill-set. Kristian is proficient in Objective-C, Cocoa Touch, Python, Perl, Java and uses databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite and Oracle.
Kristian is one of our foremost Mac evangelists and has consistently been developing captivating iPhone applications since 2008.
Craig Turner
Role: Developer
After finishing his Bachelor of Science (Maths and Computer Science) degree, Craig worked on various projects such as rostering software and web applications before committing himself fully to iPhone development.
Craig is the go-to person when it comes to what is and is not possible on the iPhone. Craig's iPhone expertise runs the gamut from such diverse things as OpenGL game programming, Fourier transforms for analysing microphone audio to SQLite performance tuning.
